Perhaps the first great Xbox Live Arcade game, Geometry Wars, has received a lot of love from fans over the years. Bizarre is well aware that fans would very much like to see a new entry in the series, but the developer wants to avoid oversaturating the market.
“It’s just a great thing having titles that people love, that they associate with our studio — and Geometry Wars is one of them,” Bizarre level designer Peter Collier told VideoGamer. “It’s very close to a lot of fans’ hearts. I guess it’s just one of those things, that it’s a great and very proud feeling having something that the fans adore so much, but we don’t want to oversaturate it by carrying on with it. It’s may be something that we keep as something we love, and move on to other things, you know?”
It’s an admirable position when Bizarre could almost certainly cash-in quite easily with a new Geometry Wars title. There have been more GW games that one might realize; besides the two Retro Evolved games, there has also been Geometry Wars: Galaxies on both Wii and DS, Evolved on mobile phones, and Waves, which was included in Project Gotham Racing 4.
