Square Enix has announced that the open beta test for Final Fantasy XIV, their MMO follow up to Final Fantasy XI, will come to an end on September 19 — three days before the proper early launch period opens up for those who purchase the collector’s edition of the game.
The open beta will specifically close at 5:00PM PDT on the 19th, if you want to know exactly the last minute you can take this free ride to. Of course, this also means (as of this writing) that you only have another eight days to get in on the open beta if you haven’t already.
As Massively reports (via VG247), Square Enix has been steadily patching the game throughout the testing period, so presumably that means this beta test is actually doing its job and will hopefully lead to a smoother launch when the game officially opens on September 30 (or, again, 22 for those who purchase the collector’s edition).
