2K Czech muscles in on the August releases.
Mafia II has been five years in the making and is just about ready to be released on bail to retailers around Australia. Set in the fictional city of Empire Bay, the story takes place during the 1940-50s and follows WW2 veteran Vito Scaletta as he leaves the service and gets involved with the mob. Like the first game, Mafia II is strictly a single-player affair, so don’t expect any open-world multiplayer action here. Keep an eye out for Mafia II on the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 this Thursday.
Sega is also taking players back in time this week, but only to the ’90s, with the release of Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack for the Wii. Both games were originally released as light-gun shooters for the arcades and have followed in the footsteps of Ghost Squad in jumping ship to the Wii. Neither games have undergone a next-gen revamp, so like Sega’s other old-school compilation discs, it’s aiming towards nostalgic players. The Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack are also slated for release this Thursday.
The only other game out this week is Legend of Kay, which is a DS remake of the 2005 PS2 game, starring cats that know martial arts.
