Capcom nails down release date for historical beat-’em-up from Devil May Cry 4 producer on Sony, Nintendo consoles.
In 2005, Capcom released Devil Kings in North America, but the game, a Westernized version of Sengoku Basara, attracted few loyal subjects. The publisher is giving the series a second shot at worldwide acclaim, as today it issued an October 12 North American release date for Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes for the PlayStation 3 and Wii.
Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes has players hack their way through the events and people of feudal Japan, much like Koei’s long-standing Samurai Warriors franchise. The game features large-scale battles of “hundreds of opponents,” and players will be able to assume control of more than 10 different legendary samurai for use on the field of war.
The game’s development is being overseen by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, best known as the producer of Devil May Cry 4. Kobayashi has been involved in the franchise from day one, serving as producer for both Devil Kings and the original Sengoku Basara.
