Google revealed on their official blog today that they have reached agreement with several retailers to start carrying Chromebooks on their retail shelves. The devices have been available at Best Buy locations and through Amazon.com. Probably the biggest outlet added to the list is Walmart, which will carry a $199 Acer version of the Chromebook in 2,800 locations throughout the U.S.

Staples is getting in on the action as well, with Acer, HP and Samsung versions available at 1,500 locations as well as through their consumer online site and their Staples Advantage business user site. In the U.S., Google says Office Depot, OfficeMax, Fry’s and TigerDirect will be offering Chromebook selections as well in the near future.

Outside the U.S., Google’s retail push will be putting Chromebooks on the shelves of stores like Tesco in the U.K., FNAC in France, and JB Hi-Fi in Australia. These countries join seven other international markets where Chromebooks are offered for sale.
