Prerelease trial for upcoming RTS runs through June 18, allows gamers to carry over progression and unlocks to full game.

A Company of Heroes 2 open beta will launch later today, developer Relic Entertainment has announced. The beta will run through June 18, a week before the game is released in full.

The Company of Heroes 2 beta features the game’s multiplayer mode, allowing players to try out competitive and cooperative gameplay on six of the game’s maps. It also lets gamers test out the first 45 levels of the title’s progression and bulletin system.

Gamers who play the Company of Heroes 2 open beta will retain all progression and unlocks, provided they purchase the full game within the first 60 days after launch and play on the same Steam account.

“We have been working hard since the closed beta balancing and improving all areas of the game as well as adding new matchmaking servers,” producer Greg Wilson said in a statement. “COH2 has had one of the most successful beta programs we’ve ever run at Relic and the support of the fans has been a critical factor in making the game more balanced and stable for launch.”

Company of Heroes 2 will launch exclusively for the PC on June 25 published by Sega, which acquired the franchise and Relic Entertainment for $26.6 million during THQ’s bankruptcy auction in January.
