Double Fine Productions has applied for a US trademark for “The Cave,” according to a listing on the US Patent and Trademark Office site. There’s no information in the trademark registry about what this is, except that it’s intended for “computer game software and video game software,” which rules out our guess that Double Fine is trying to trademark the concept of caves. Too bad, that would have been super lucrative.
Of course, the most exciting possibility is that this is a potential title for the “Double Fine Adventure” project for which Double Fine raised all of everyone’s money. It could also relate to Ron Gilbert’s mystery project. Or it could be the nickname for Double Fine’s new, cavernous money vault. Oh, no, wait, “computer software and video game software.”
