The amount of quality DS titles coming out nowadays is not what it used to be. While Sega just yesterday said it was pushing back two upcoming titles for 3DS, today it’s followed up with some excellent news for portable gaming fans — WayForward’s Aliens game for DS has been officially announced, and it’s coming soon.
An ESRB listing for Aliens: Infestation was recently discovered which described it as an action platformer. Today’s press release takes that one step further, calling it an “action-heavy side-scrolling exploration game” set in the Aliens expanded universe, a description that makes it sound like a Metroidvania-style game.
One thing that sets it apart from Metroid and Castlevania is the ability to recruit up to 19 different marines that players can assume the role of. They’ll explore (and battle xenomorphs in) different locations from the Aliens movies including the U.S.S. Sulaco, LV-426, and more.
