Tired of seeing WiiWare games sporadically released on Nintendo’s Wii Shop Channel, only to have no way of testing them out before you plunk down your ethereal Nintendo monetary points for them? Well two years after the WiiWare service launched, that’ll finally be changing: Nintendo has announced that starting November 22, you’ll be able to download samples of WiiWare games before you’re actually forced to buy one.
Essentially, it’ll be like downloading trial versions of Xbox Live Arcade games — except apparently still not quite as user-friendly as that method. Any WiiWare game’s demo will only be available for “a limited time,” and not every WiiWare game will have a demo when the service launches next week. Only BIT.TRIP FATE, And Yet It Moves, ThruSpace, and Jett Rocket will initially have demos, with more added every Monday.
As for how many more already-released WiiWare games will eventually get demos, it’s hard to say. But considering each demo will only be available for a limited time anyway, then by definition there won’t ever be a point where you can try out any WiiWare game whenever you want to. But hey, at least there will be some demoes — that’s better than nothing, isn’t it?
