The NPD Group released their new, lighter statistics today. As expected, there’s a relative lack of hard numbers, but Microsoft has been happy to supply some statistics on their own.

Not surprisingly, Halo: Reach checks in at #1 this month, with a separate Microsoft announcement revealing that it sold 3.3 million units over the course of the month. The Xbox 360 also did well, selling 484,000 units in a 37 percent increase from September 2009 — the only console to see sales increase year over year.

Sony got some good news as well, as the NPD reports that PlayStation 3 and PSP sales are up on a per week basis compared to August 2010. September’s biggest PSP release was Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, which came in at #6, and all three PlayStation Move SKUs made it into the Top 10 for accessories.
