Lately, I have been getting into playing more games on my mobile device as things are changing for me. I’m on the go a lot and my cell phone provider giving me Google Play Pass for free. So, I was excited to see that Tender: Creature Comforts was on mobile as I had played the PC version a while back on my twitch channel {Ready Set Indie Games Live Streams: Tender Creature Comforts (PC) Trigger Warning}.

If you’re not familiar with Tender: Creature Comforts it is a dating sim game in which you play as a human who is on a new planet. Wanting to connect with others you sign up for the fictional Tinder app called Tender. Much like the app, the game is based on you swiping right to match with a creature or swiping left to not match with the creature. It also has profiles that have no profile pics, people only attracted to humans, and much more. The big thing is your Visa only lets you go on 10 dates so you have to choose wisely because after the 10 dates you can’t like any more profiles or go on any more dates. I do want to let you know that the game does talk about some things that can be trigger warnings for some, one for sure I know is Eating Disorders, so please play the game with care.

After playing both the PC and mobile versions of this dating sim, I will definitely say I prefer the mobile version over the PC version. They both have their differences so let me explain some of the differences between the game.

Taking from the Mobile Version of Tender: Creature Comforts.
  1. PC Version: Go on a Date Right after you’re asked to go on a date VS. Mobile Version: Dates are in Real-Time.

The biggest difference between Tender: Creature Comforts PC and mobile versions is the dating system. On PC you can go on the date immediately after the creature asks you to go on a date. Where on mobile you schedule the date in real-time. So you get a nifty calendar to set up all your dates. The calendar also features times and dates that your date is not available which is a cool feature. On mobile you can reschedule your date if need be, so as crazy as it sounds, it feels more fulfilling to be able to schedule a date in real-time.

2. PC Version: Shorter Wait Time for Swipes to Regenerate vs Mobile Version: Longer Wait Time for Swipes.

The next difference goes in the favor of the PC. There is a limit of times of how many times you can swipe. It allows you to swipe at least 15 times before it freezes your swipes. On PC the time to be able to swipe again is 5 minutes, so you can jump back into the game. On mobile you have to wait 6 hours to get more swipes, in the meantime, you can answer creatures you’ve matched with in your DM’s.

3. PC Version: Story-Driven vs Mobile Version: Time-Driven

The PC version of the game is definitely more story-driven, with having a shorter wait time for swipes and being able to go on dates immediately after the creature asks you on the date. So if you are a person who enjoys the story of games, then I recommend playing the PC version of the game. However, if you’re more of a person who likes to take their time with games then I recommend the Mobile Version which is more time driven. Since the mobile version puts limits on your game, such as waiting to go on a date, waiting to be able to swipe again. Overall, it depends on the type of player you are.

Nonetheless Tender: Creature Comforts is a fun game no matter which platform you play it on and I do recommend the dating sim, to those who like dating sims. If you would like to play Tender: Creature Comforts for yourself you can play the game on PC/macOS via Steam for $9.99 USD, Google Play, and Apple App Store for $3.99 USD.

She has been gaming for 30+ years; and feels that a lot of indie games go back to the games that she grew up with and aren't afraid to think outside of the box to make a game. It is because of this thought process that she prefers to play a majority of indie titles, but still likes to play Triple-A titles and Retro games too. She enjoys searching through itch.io platform and looking for games that are stream friendly, and then playing them on stream to get them the exposure they may not be getting.
