The Following game “ZOETI” was provided to me from thedailygamepad.net and was given to thedailygamepad.net for free by the developers/publishers of the game. I would like to thank the developers/publishers on behalf of thedailygamepad.net for providing a free copy of the game to play for this video and for review.
In this Live Stream, Ready Sets Gaming plays ZOETI on PC.
Zoeti is a turn-based rogue-lite that features a deck of playing cards used to create card combos and activate skills in the heat of battle. Bolster your arsenal of skills through battles, discoverable upgrades, or aid from the locals which enhance your plays to overcome the evil plaguing your land.
ZOETI infuses new life into the deckbuilding genre, which I applaud. Instead of the usual deckbuilding game, you use playing cards to make poker-style attacks. If you are not a poker player, it follows the same rules as Yahtzee. If you can’t recall the rules, there are buttons you can press to bring up the appropriate cards for the moves.
One of my favorite aspects of ZOETI is that it uses playing cards rather than the usual cards used in most games. You can earn various power-ups for your card actions, but the cards themselves are just playing cards. I also enjoy how you may choose a path and stay on it, making it feel more rogue-lite. There is no way to choose between routes as you travel once you select your route, that is the route have chosen and you are able to choose different paths within that route.
ZOETI is a deck-builder game with visual novel elements, which I approve of as a visual novel aficionado. The story mode is the one that allows you to access the visual novel part of the game, and there is also an Adventure Mode that you must unlock. The characters are interesting to learn about and give complexity to the game. In addition, when you open them up, you can choose between three distinct characters. There is a Knight named Valetina. Alves is an assassin, and Nicora is a mage.
Overall, if you enjoy deck-builders and visual novels, this is the game for you. I strongly advise you to give ZOETI a shot. It’s a lot of fun for me. If you want to try ZOETI for yourself, you may do so on PC through Steam or on Nintendo Switch. The original price of the game is $19.99 USD, but it is presently on sale for $17.99 USD as an introductory price until April 27th, 2023.
