Shenmue City isn’t exactly a true sequel to the Dreamcast classics, but some familiar names look to be heavily involved in the project. Among the newly-announced details comes word that Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki’s company Ys Net will be developing the game (via Adriasang).
Also involved in the project is the revived Sunsoft, which will be publishing the game and managing it on Yahoo! Mobage and Mobagetown. Sega will be supervising the game’s production.
The game will be set in Yokosuka, which was the setting of the original Shenmue. Players will fill the shoes of the main characters themselves, though the social aspect has not been detailed yet. It will serve as a sidestory to the original game and its sequel.
