He may not be popular with former Infinity Ward CEOs or the gaming fandom at large, but the top publishers around the industry are undoubtedly jealous as hell of Bobby Kotick’s current position. Owning the two biggest franchises in gaming will do that.
If recent history is any indication, EA is one of those jealous parties. They’ve done everything in their power to replicate that success; and after the middling success of Medal of Honor, they’re turning to their equivalent of the atomic bomb — Star Wars: The Old Republic. The power of the license alone it represents the first credible competition that World of WarCraft has faced in years.
The only problem is that in some ways it might already be outdated.
