There have been two trailers so far for the upcoming revival of iconic ’90s sci-fi show The X-Files, and now a new promo has been released. This one is somewhat different however. It’s a stylised animated video featuring voiceovers, but no actual footage from the new series. Check it out here:
The key voice in this clip is that of the Smoking Man, the enigmatic villain played by William B. Davis. Main stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny can also be heard, as FBI agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder.
The first episode of the six-episode season recently premiered at New York Comic Con, to mixed reviews. The new season will premiere on FOX on January 24, 2016.
The X-Files ran for nine years, and clocked up 202 episodes between 1993 and 2002. By the time the final episode aired, it had become the longest-running consecutive sci-fi series ever on US broadcast TV. There were also two spinoff movies: 1998’s The X-Files: Fight the Future, and The X-Files: I Want to Believe in 2008.
