The Interactive Games & Entertainment Association has released figures from the NPD Group Australia for last year’s game sale figures. While overall software sales were down 5.3 percent when compared to the year before, console hardware sales had increased by 47 percent.
The most sold game in Australia for 2014 was Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, followed by Watch Dogs. EA Sports’ FIFA 15 placed third. The full list is detailed below. As per usual, figures account for physical retail sales across all platforms (including PC) and do not incorporate digital or pre-owned purchases.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare also topped the 2014 list in the United States, whose top ten list looks relatively different to Australia’s. Noticeably, while Madden NFL 15 placed second on the list for the US, it did not enter the top ten list for Australia at all.
“Hardware sales pushed the industry forward in 2014,” said IGEA CEO Ron Curry, “Bricks and Mortar retailers have seen a boost in demand for the current generation consoles which in turn has lead to an increase in demand for new console software and accessories and items such as game cards.”
