Ghost Recon: Future Soldier studio signs on David Votypka as new senior creative director following closure of Homefront dev.
THQ shuttered Homefront creator Kaos Studios just over two weeks ago, but it hasn’t taken long for the studio’s creative leader to land a new gig. Kaos’ former creative director and general manager David Votypka has updated his LinkedIn profile to indicate that he has been hired on at Ubisoft Red Storm as the studio’s new senior creative director.
Ubisoft Red Storm is best known for its work on the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six franchises. The studio, which is based in Cary, North Carolina, is currently at work on Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, which is slated to arrive for platforms that include the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in March 2012.
Kaos Studios sent THQ on a roller-coaster ride when it launched Homefront in March. After the game received review scores that came in on the low side of positive, the publisher experienced a wave of investor panic, with its stock at one point trading down more than 20 percent. Shortly thereafter, THQ announced that the game has shipped more than 2.6 million units.
With Kaos closed, future work on the series will be handled at the nascent THQ Montreal. That studio is being run by former Assassin’s Creed creative director Patrice Desilets.
