To some extent I’m saddened to hear that the PSP Go is officially being phased out. I was very excited when it was first announced and picked one up as soon as it was released, only to have the reality sink in. I could do without being able to trade or sell my games, and even not having access to the PSP’s entire catalog of games didn’t kill it for me. Not having access to the sales offered at Amazon and elsewhere hurt, but I was willing to pay a premium for the convenience of having all of my games stored on the system. The final straw came when games I was looking forward to didn’t hit PSN at the same time as they on UMD; it was then I realized that I had made a mistake by paying a premium for a digital-only system that wasn’t supported in the way it needed to be. (It also didn’t help that my fingers never fit on the shoulder buttons all that well, either.) Hopefully Sony has learned its lesson from the Go and will better support the digital side when it comes to the NGP so, if I want to, it’ll be a viable option to go all-digital with the new handheld.
