CD Projekt, the parent company of The Witcher 2 developer CD Projekt Red, has confirmed it has threatened legal action against those who pirate the game following a report that it was seeking settlements in excess of $1,000.
Last week TorrentFreak reported that numerous people in Germany have claimed they received a settlement proposal of 911.80 Euros (about $1,187) from a law firm on behalf of CD Projekt. It was alleged that these people had pirated a copy of The Witcher 2, which was released in May. As you’d expect, many of these individuals professed their innocence as they were faced with a potential lawsuit if they didn’t pay up.
