Japanese director Takashi Miike said recently that he was working on a “light comedy” based on a court drama game for the DS. The Ace Attorney series seemed to fit the bill and, sure enough, Capcom has officially announced that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is headed to the big screen for a live-action adaptation.
The titular Wright will be played by Hiroki Narimiya, prosecutor Miles Edgeworth by Takumi Saito, and assistant Maya Fey by Mirei Kiritani. Production will be handled by Nippon Television Network Corporation and the movie — currently carrying the working title of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – The Movie — is currently scheduled to be out in Japan next spring.
Capcom is no stranger to videogame-based movies; its Resident Evil series will see its fifth live-action movie released in 2012.
