The Moto X is an excellent phone, but if there is was anything holding it back, it’s the camera quality. The perception from myself and many other reviewers is that it’s a software issue, and it looks like we were right. An update is now ready to roll and T-Mobile’s Moto X is going to be the first to get it. The changelog is as follows:
- Enhanced auto-white balance performance and color accuracy
- Improved exposure in outdoor and backlit scenes
- Reduced noise in low light scenes
Now I know updates don’t always deliver on promises, but in this case, it appears that Motorola definitely fixed the issue. AnandTech’s Brian Klug already did some comparisons, and he is saying it’s a “dramatic improvement.” That’s exactly what I like to hear. So far the update is only available on T-Mobile, but hopefully other carriers won’t be long after. If I were a betting man, I would say Verizon Wireless will be last.
