A recent survey by Japanese online monitor group goo Research and japan.internet.com (translated by What Japan Thinks) shows that handheld machines and older consoles still dominate Japanese households.

The survey was conducted online with an overall sample size of 1,099 respondents covering a broad range of age groups and a 53 to 47 percent male/female ratio. Out of that group, 742 people reported owning videogame consoles.
