The case that could have far-reaching consequences for the videogame industry now has an official date with the Supreme Court (via GamePolitics). Schwarzenegger vs. EMA will be heard November 2 at 10 AM EST, making it the first case to be heard that day.
The court will hear arguments as to whether the First Amendment bars states from restricting the sale of violent games to minors, and whether the state must demonstrate a direct link between violent video games and physicial and psychological harm to minors.
The case related to a California state law originally authored by state senator Leland Yee, which seeks to ban the sale of violent videogames to minors. The law was signed into law in 2005, but was struck down in the lower courts.
