Super Meat Boy

A special edition boxed version of Super Meat Boy is in the works for PC users, the game’s developers at Team Meat announced on their official blog yesterday. Currently available through Steam, the excruciatingly difficult platformer will feature exclusive bonus content when it hits retail early next year.

Some of the additional content you can expect from the special edition of Meat Boy include never-before-seen artwork, behind-the-scenes footage, and mockups of characters that didn’t make the final cut. Also, freelance artist Dave Rapoza whipped up the insane looking painting above, which will serve as the game’s retail box art.

Team Meat’s Edmund McMillen hopes to have the game on store shelves by the end of January. Pricing will likely fall in the $20 to $25 range, though nothing’s set in stone just yet.
