Before I start, I want to mention that the game “Star Stuff” was provided to thedailygamepad.net for free by the developers/publishers for the purpose of review. I’d like to express my gratitude to the developers/publishers on behalf of thedailygamepad.net for giving us a free copy of the game to play and review.
Star Stuff is an adorable puzzle game disguised in a cutesy exterior. Don’t be fooled by the vibrant colors and whimsical characters β this game will challenge your brain surprisingly. As a new engineer in a whimsical star factory, you’re tasked with building stars with the help of a quirky crew of robots.
The core gameplay revolves around programming these bots to complete increasingly complex tasks. You won’t be writing lines of code but rather dragging and dropping visual blocks to create a sequence of commands. It’s a fantastic introduction to programming logic; even those without coding experience will pick it up quickly.
What starts with simple commands like “move forward” and “push button” quickly expands to loops, functions, and conditional statements. The game cleverly introduces these new concepts through tutorials and puzzles that build upon each other. There’s a handy rewind button, too, so you can experiment without fear of messing things up.
Star Stuff isn’t just about logic β it also requires a good dose of creativity. The puzzles often have multiple solutions, and figuring out the most efficient way to use your bots can be rewarding. The later levels can get quite challenging, but the satisfaction of solving a complex puzzle with a perfectly programmed robot dance is unmatched.
Star Stuff is an enjoyable and calming puzzle game that offers challenging yet forgiving puzzles while teaching basic coding concepts. It’s suitable for both puzzle enthusiasts and programmers, and I highly recommend it. However, experienced puzzle solvers may find it too easy. Star Stuff is available on Steam for $14.99 USD and is compatible with PC and macOS.
