Spain can now boast the first street in the world named for Mario, and there are more like it on the way (via CNN).
Residents of the government-sponsored Arcosur development project, which aims to build more than 21,000 homes for people aged 20 to 35, chose videogames over more traditional options for their new area. Streets named for Sonic, Space Invaders and Legend of Zelda are also planned.
“We are people who grew up living with video games. We know them very well,” said neighborhood association president Antonio Almudi Miranda. “I’m 25. I’m the same age as Mario.”
