Though the Sons of Anarchy TV show may be coming to a close, the franchise will live on through a video game. Fox Digital Entertainment today announced the name of the long-in-development Sons of Anarchy “high-end” mobile game and confirmed that it will launch in 2015 as an episodic title.
It’s called Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect, and the game–like the show–will be released episodically, with subsequent installments to follow after the debut in 2015. The game will tell an original story, and take players to previously unexplored locations and situations of the biker drama franchise.
Official plot details for The Prospect are being kept under wraps, but it sounds like the game will be at least thematically similar to the TV show. According to the game’s announcement today, The Prospect will let players “experience the treachery, graphic action, intrigue, and life and death decision making” we’ve come to expect from the FX show.
The Prospect is being developed by Canadian studios Orpheus Interactive and Silverback Games. Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter and his creative team are also attached to the project. The overall goal for The Prospect, according to its creators, is to offer something compelling that’s also faithful to the show.
No in-game images or video from The Prospect were shared today.
Sutter’s attempts to make a Sons of Anarchy game have been well-documented. The game was at one time thought to be “dead,” and has reportedly gone through multiple design changes.
The Sons of Anarchy series finale airs tomorrow, December 9, on FX.
