Online photo service SmugMug released a native Android app to the Google Play Store today, making use of the service much easier to use compared to the mobile web version. The SmugMug service starts at $5 per month, which entitles users to unlimited photo uploads. Prices go up from there if you want to do things like upload HD videos or sell your photos through the site. If you don’t have a SmugMug account already, you can save 25% off the first year’s subscription if you sign up through the new Android app.

The new app includes the ability to display fullscreen slideshows of your work, including a mix from across all galleries or just specific galleries. The app will let you configure your upload preferences to automatically upload as you capture images or do it periodically on demand. The app can also download galleries, either automatically or on demand, so pictures and videos can be viewed on a mobile device even when no Internet connection is available. A whole host of other functionality is available, replicating many of the functions the service provides to desktop browser users.

The app is free and can be downloaded using one of the links below. As mentioned, a paid SmugMug subscription is required to continue using the service beyond the free trial period.
