It seems to always be the case when a new character is introduced in Smite (or any other MOBA): It’s way too strong and is quickly nerfed. That’s certainly the case with Sol, Smite’s latest addition, who will be less powerful come next week.
Developer Hi-Rez Studios has outlined the latest patch, which is now available on public test servers. The most significant component is certainly the adjustment to Sol. One of her abilities (Radiance) now does less damage, and her passive–which bolsters her attack speed and power–is less effective. Her Ultimate ability, meanwhile, actually gets a small buff; the size of each explosion has been made slightly larger, and they now occur a bit more rapidly. On the downside for Sol players, her Disapparate ability no longer removes roots, so those should now be a more effective way of dealing with her.
Khepri, another recent addition to the game, has been nerfed again. Specifically, his Rising Dawn ability now has a longer cooldown, while his Ultimate–which revives an ally when he or she is killed within a short span of time–has been rendered less effective. This is accomplished by causing allies to revive with less health, making them easier for coordinated enemies to kill a second time.
A few other character and items are also modified in this patch, and two new skins are being added. One dresses up Tyr as a king, while the other is a robotic, almost Terminator-without-its-skin look for Medusa (pictured above).

The update should be followed by a release on Xbox One sometime next month. In the meantime, Xbox players continue to await the new Halloween-themed Arena map.
