One could easily pass off Skullgirls as nothing more than a gimmicky fighter due to its risqué art style and unknown character roster. At first glance, it’s hard to blame anyone who would think it’s simply trying to cash in on the same demographic that purchases anime hug pillows and boobie mouse pads. And hey, that may be partially true, but try not to get too distracted by all the fan service as there is a lot more going on with Skullgirls than you may realize.

With long time tournament player Mike Z. behind the wheel — making adjustments to the gameplay system at tournaments on the fly based on player feedback — it’s safe to say the game is in good hands. After spending just a few minutes with the game, I can instantly tell it’s been carefully crafted for the tournament level fighting game community.
