Samsung buys Boxee for $30 million

According to a report from Israeli business site The Marker, Samsung has completed a deal to purchase Boxee for $30 million. Boxee, the company that has created streaming solutions via set-top boxes and home theatre PC software to your PC and TV, had been looking for a buyer and more funding for the past few months before they found Samsung. Samsung will continue to employ Boxee’s 40 workers.

Of course, initial thoughts are that Samsung will use Boxee to enhance their smart TVs. Could they also use the software to start a video streaming service, something like Google TV?
