Trion Worlds is one of the few remaining MMORPG developers with enough nerve to take on World of Warcraft directly. These days, even older MMORPGs like Lord of the Rings Online are relaunching as free-to-play, microtransaction-driven experiences. Rift isn’t exactly one of a dying breed, but it is up against some pretty stiff competition in a space that’s already oversaturated.
