Dwarven Skykeep is a funny strategy game with pixel art that takes place in a magical medieval realm.
Enter a strange world and begin constructing structures with your magical deck of cards and tipsy dwarfs.
The game offers two different game modes Hard and Insane. Hard is said to be the way the game is intended, so I selected Hard for my playthrough. Then started out on my journey of protecting the nameless kingdom.
The game is fun and has some comedic moments. I will admit I would have liked an easy mode because I found some of the controls for the game a little confusing. Although you can use the keyboard or mouse to control your characters. When it came to my main way of playing which was with the mouse, I found myself having issues with collecting my cards from the rooms. The game at times can be a little frantic and a little on the fast-paced side. Which isn’t an issue except when I had issues with collecting my cards that I need to advance gameplay. For example, the rooms were on fire and I need water to put them out but I couldn’t collect the cards. I think it would be nice to just click on the room to collect cards instead of clicking on the “!” point to grab them as the hitbox on the “!” is a little temperamental at times.
Again as stated the game offers two modes Hard was definitely hard at least for me, but I did enjoy the challenge even with the issue I had with collecting cards. I did not give the game a try with the insane mode, but if you’re looking for more of a challenge then I would suggest giving it a go.
Overall, Dwarven Skykeep was a lot of fun and I do recommend it.
