Before I begin my review, I would like to let you know that the developers and publishers of the game “Volcano Princess” offered it to me for free. As a result, I’d want to thank the developer/publisher for providing me with a free copy of the game to play on my stream as well as to write this review.

Volcano Princess is a life simulation game in which you must uncover the next monarch’s hobbies, train her for battle, and befriend the subjects she will one day defend. Dive into an all-new parenting-simulator-RPG adventure where every decision you make affects not only your daughter’s destiny but the future of an entire kingdom!

The game begins with you taking on the role of our future princess’s father. You set off on your own, without your wife, to pray at a demolished altar. When you return, you give your wife her favorite flowers and decide on a name for your daughter. Rose is the default name, but you can change it. After you name your daughter, you name your father, and the game moves forward five years.

Before you begin the game, you must decide which father you will be to your daughter. A parent who defends his daughter, who makes his daughter proud, or who adores his daughter. Once you’ve decided what kind of father you want to be, you’re stuck with that type until you finish the game, so choose wisely.

The gameplay reminds me of a choose-your-own-adventure game, with the outcome affecting your daughter’s well-being. Because the game is a life simulation, you will have to do things in order to harness your daughter’s abilities. Strength, Intelligence, Emotional, and Imagination are the skills that appear to be mentioned in the game. In addition to talents, you must develop stamina, mind, charisma, fame, and patience.

These abilities and characteristics can be developed through engaging your daughter with the people of the town, playing games with her, reading to her, and participating in school sessions. However, you must be wary of your daughter’s moods and actions. When she is depressed, she performs poorly in school.

The game is available in three written languages. I will note that the English translation can be a little rough at times, but it is still readable. There are voiceovers, however, it appears that they are exclusively in Japanese and Chinese. The game requires only a mouse to play and will keep you occupied for hours if you enjoy visual novels and life simulations. I had a hard time quitting my live stream when I was playing it since the game is simply so lovely and delightful.

If you enjoy life simulation games with strong story components, I highly recommend Volcano Princess. There are also various endings, so this is a game that may keep you engaged for hours. If you want to play Volcano Princess for yourself, you can do so on PC through Steam for $10.99 USD.
