Now a days, you can find zombies in almost any game on shelves. You name it, there is a zombie game made about it. Call of Duty has zombies, Red Dead Redemption, Crackdown…the list is probably as big as my clothing size. Now, making a GOOD game about zombies is hard enough, but with all the competition, you need to make a fresh approach. R.I.P.D: The Game does a okay job, but is short of a great experience.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the concept. Co-Op shooters are some of my favorite games to play…..when they are done correctly. It is so easy to make a Co-op shooter a chore, and this game is just above that mark. When I tried co-op, the name above my friends head would only appear when I was about 10 feet near him. Any further away and good luck figuring out who is your enemy. I even wonder sometimes what about this game resembles the actual movies in some aspects. I am a real fan of the movie, and this game was nothing close to what I was looking for.

Visually, it is not a bad game. There is some screen tearing in spots, and lag here and there, but that can be fixed in future patches. Matches are made up of five rounds of increasing difficulty, in which the doughty heroes are approached by zombies (or something like them) from all sides. This is obviously reference to the Zombies in Call of Duty, and Gears of War’s Horde Mode. The voice acting is good enough, but very heavy on the one liners barely resembling the movie stars.
Let me touch base on the online features. I had a very hard time finding a game. It literally took almost 30 minutes to find someone, and when we found each other, we disconnected from the server. That was about all I could take of the online features, so I am going to have to dock them, as I tried for 3 days to play online, and I was unable to do so.
Average graphics, horrible online, good sound effects, and horrible recoil makes this game a tough one to recommend, but if you are looking for a game on the cheap that you may find some fun in, I can suggest this one.
