Sega has announced that online role-playing game Phantasy Star Online 2 will be coming to the PlayStation 4 in Japan next year. The news was revealed during the live stream of the publisher’s ARCS Festival 2015 event, via Dengeki Online.
The broadcast also detailed an upcoming content update titled Reborn: Episode 4 coming to the PlayStation Vita and PC versions of the game. Phantasy Star Online 2 for PS4 will be publicly playable at this year’s Tokyo Game Show convention, which will run September 19-20.
Phantasy Star Online 2 has not yet been officially released in the North American and European markets. In September last year Sega reassured fans that the game is still coming to Western territories, though it did not provide a time window.
The game was first released in Japan in 2012, followed by a release in Southeast Asia in early 2014. A North America and Europe release was announced in mid-2012 and scheduled for 2013, only for the game to be delayed in early 2013 without any reason specified, or new release window revealed. However, an English-language patch has since been made available.
