There has been some back-and-forth on the question “will Kinect games be playable sitting down?” with the answer seeming to come down to if the developer has created the experience with sitting in mind.
However, a new wrinkle was discussed at the Develop Conference, just held in Brighton in the UK. In a session reported by Joystiq, CTO of Blitz games Andrew Oliver discussed the fact that the company faced difficulty in designing experiences that required lying down — such as push-ups and certain yoga poses — for The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout, as the angle of the player, undoubtedly obscuring certain limbs, “breaks” the 3D skeleton tracking that forms Kinect’s biggest selling point.
