On behalf of TheDailyGamepad for this preview we would like to thank Grinding Gear Games who spent 4 plus years behind the behind the game, “Path of Exile”, for this chance to actively play in the beta. Mind you I am not going to discuss too many things about the game, however I will go over a few basic items of interest. As the game fully releases then will be the time for the juicy bits. In basic format going back all the way to Gauntlet(yes Gauntlet is a primitive Dungeon Crawler), to other games like ZZT. It has always been kill to progress, and nothing truly more. Until the likes of Diablo1 was released which spared a forest fire of excellence where the elements of Western RPG, Action, and Loot was born. From that point another game was born Diablo 2. A Game even to this date is one of the few highest selling games for the Personal Computer.
Many spin offs that tried to snag that magic that Blizzards strong Western RPG holds. A lot of inspiration and concepts are built into this game off the bad, but what makes this game stand out is a somewhat game changing format that how you use skills, and how the game allows you to build your character into a machine. You are given 5 characters, all different in their own perspectives. One thing in common is the ability you can add skills to each character. Socket-able armor and weapons allow for spells and skills such as ice bolts and or various features. As for a tree to level off of, this is not your daddies Diablo, it features a huge Passive tree that pending on how you look at it (think Final Fantasy 10) will allow you build your character naturally while also allowing you to re-socket to construct your character the way you want to. Again this is far as I go for this preview. All I can say is this game is going to be build with a lot of freedom in mind and a ass ton of promise. Did I mention it will be free to play?
We Look forward the the final finished product and hope the best for the team behind this project as so far, from the sharp graphics to the addicting game play. You will not be disappointed!
One thing to note as many and we do mean many people are trying to get into closed beta, you will wait a while before you can get into this experience. Good things happen to those who wait.
