Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold 8.4 million copies, and is already the 7th best-selling game of all time, according to the latest set of numbers by the NPD Group.
Black Ops helped drive sales during what turned out to be a record-setting November for physical retail. According to NPD analyst Anita Frazier, this month’s sales beat November 2008 by $30 million, which marked the height of the music genre’s popularity.
After a marked downturn though, the music genre is enjoying something of a resurgence thanks in part to the recently released Just Dance 2 (#3) and Dance Central (Unranked). According to Frazier, music game sales have increased 38 percent compared to last year, when the marquee released was The Beatles Rock Band.
