Nintendo, eager to shore up their rather paltry-looking Wii release ledger for the upcoming summer, divulged the first real details today on Pandora’s Tower, an action RPG the company first announced at an investor meeting in January. The publisher also released a short trailer film from the game, which you can watch right now on the Japanese teaser website.
Pandora’s Tower is developed by Fukuoka, Japan-based Ganbarion, a developer that up to now has chiefly been known for releasing action brawlers based on One Piece and other Shonen Jump franchises. This game is a new direction for them, and it’s got a much more Western fantasy vibe to it than anything they’ve previously released.
The plot tells the story of Ceres, a heroine who’s been blighted with a curse that will turn her into a hideous beast over time. One stopgap solution to this is to have Ceres consume the meat of other beasts, and so her friend, ex-mercenary Ende, volunteers to delve into the network of towers these beasts live in, collecting their meat as he searches for a more permanent answer.
