Last week rumors started to circulate that the Nexus 5 would sport mems camera technology, which utilizes faster focusing. However, it appears the rumor was inaccurate because DigitalOptics just announced that OPPO is going to be the first company to utilize their mems|cam module. They actually referred to the rumor about the Nexus 5 in their press release…

There has been speculation on who would be the first to bring the significant benefits of mems|cam to the mobile imaging market. Last week, several technology news blogs reported that mems|cam was first being brought to market in another smartphone platform. Those reports were inaccurate.

So no mems technology, but at least the Nexus 5 is getting optical image stabilization, which will be a welcome upgrade from past Nexus offerings. Hit the break for the full presser.
