Vin Diesel says the team behind Escape from Butcher Bay has been reassembled to create a third installment in the series.

A new Chronicles of Riddick game is in development, actor Vin Diesel revealed in a new interview with ScreenCrush (via Eurogamer). The untitled new game is in development by Starbreeze Studios team members who worked on 2004’s Escape from Butcher Bay.

“My diehard gamers want [Tigon Studios] to deliver the third chapter in the Riddick game,” Diesel said. “And we just over the past couple of months, just this year, reassembled that team from Starbreeze that brought Escape from Butcher Bay to create the third game.”

No details regarding platforms or a release date were mentioned. It does not appear that the new game will tie in with Riddick, which released in theaters last week.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was released in 2004 for the original Xbox and PC. Sequel Assault on Dark Athena launched in 2009 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
