Mushroom Wars is one of those simple to pick up and play games with a lot of charm without too much complication, unless you count the straight into it chaos. So the story goes as follows, several types of mushroom men are lead by a pirate looking leader. When he gets murdered, all of the leaders of the mushroom men fight one another for control. The game it self comes from back in 09′ featuring some aggressive gameplay. It seems cute on the surface but the game itself is pretty challenging. This in term makes for a exciting game!

The game itself off the bat puts you right into the crazy game play after the introduction to the setting. It all handles like a straight forward RTS. Your goal is to capture all of the buildings by upgrading, and building up your fleet of mushroom men. Effectively each map you play on is sort of like a game a puzzle of sorts, of speed, aggression and simply building up your units quick enough. I found myself playing this for quite a while. As most RTS games of old you play against more then one army, which then in turn becomes chaos. In a good and delightful way!

The games length is rather deep. You will have times of trial and error at points where I had to rethink carefully how to approach each level. This in turn makes it puzzle like. Sort of like a reflex puzzle. I like this aspect, even someone could argue most rts games are like a chess game with a rapid clock.

In Closing:

Mushroom Wars is a blast to play for those who enjoy a fast paced rts experience, with Mushroom wars 2 around the counter I will personally be interested what innovation towards the series so far. Pick it up! Honestly I could not find a issue with the game other then if you are one of those laid back RTS fans you might get frustrated at the rapid speed.I did not mind it personally. Over all pick up the game, it is a blast to play!
