The Following game Mushihimesama was provided to me from thedailygamepad.net and was giving to thedailygamepad.net for free by the developers/publishers of the game. I would like to thank the developers/publishers on behalf of thedailygamepad.net for providing a free copy of the game to play for this video and for review.
In this Live Stream, Ready Set Indie Games plays Mushihimesama on PC.
I will admit it has been quite some time since I last played a really good bullet hell shmup. So when I was asked if I would cover Mushihimesama for the Nintendo Switch, I was more than happy to provide coverage for the game. Mushihimesama orginally got it’s start on PlayStation 2 back in 2005 and has been ported over to different platforms over the years from different publishers.
In the game you play as Reco, who must go into the Shinju Forest to rid the forest of the Koujuu a species of insescts who’s life force is very toxic to humans, and in order to save the people of her village at the age of 15 a girl is sacrifice and that sacrifice happens to be Reco. The game play like most traditional shmups and I didn’t have any issues with the game at all. The controls were very solid on the Switch although I was playing with an 8bitDO Controller and not the joy-cons. I didn’t have to many things against the game, I liked that the game showed you it’s hit box which is important in shmups for me when playing a shump.
I think the only thing I had an issue with when it came to game is that at the end the text went by too fast, so I was unable to read it. This was also an issue at the beginning of the game. Also, I would have liked more of the story to be told at the beginning of the game as the game does have a story, but I had to go ahead and look up the plot because I missed it, unless this is one of those games that the story pops up after the start screen is idle for so long.
I would also like to say that I thought that it was a little strange that the game was not available on PS4 and XB1 as it was originally on predecessor consoles for them. Perhaps a port to those consoles will come at a later date, but if you are a person who likes to game on the go and you like bullet hell shoot ’em ups I would say that you should add this to your gaming library for the switch. The game can also be picked up on PC as well. In fact if you want to play the game yourself you can purchase the game for $19.99 USD on Steam, Humble Bundle, and the Nintendo Switch, and again a big thank you to CAVE Interactive CO.,LTD. and Degica for providing us at thedailygamepad.net with a free copy of the game to play for review.
