Whereas previous media has focused on the whole “Hey, check out our ’40s L.A. setting” thing, the latest screens of Team Bondi’s L.A. Noire highlight the “investigation” aspect of the game. As a detective, you have to scour crime scenes, talk to witnesses, interrogate suspects, and do actual detective work in order to solve cases.
Of course, given the historical setting, we suspect a lot of the investigation time will involve you desperately wishing for a time machine so you could just perform a DNA analysis or check a fingerprint database. L.A. Noire is decidedly pre-CSI.
