For those of you that purchased Elite and play Modern Warfare 3 on the Xbox 360, your wait for new content is finally over! The first and second “content drops” for Modern Warfare 3 were released a little after midnight this morning, in the form of new multiplayer maps.
Liberation, taking place in Central Park, is by far one of the biggest maps in any Call of Duty game. While it does provide for sniper opportunities, there is also an underground bunker and a few dried out creek beds that provide cover. The underground area and creeks also create some bottlenecks where some intense fighting is sure to go down.
Piazza, is set in a small Italian Village and I emphasize the word “small”. While traditional sniper opportunities might not be readily available on this map, I’m sure we will have no lack of “quickscopers” running around. I can also see a lot of SMGs and Shotguns being used on this map.
There is a special “Elite” playlist that is supposed to feature these two new maps but, this morning I went almost an hour without seeing the two new maps as an option to play. A two map playlist will get boring very quickly so, while I am glad to see the original MW3 maps rotating in, at least one new map should always be an option in their own playlist!
To Access New Maps:
1. Download and/or update Call of Duty Elite App on Xbox Dashboard.
2. Start and update Modern Warfare 3.
3. Select “Store” (a new option) from the Multiplayer Menu.
4. Select “Download New Content”.
The Liberation map was just over 100 MB while Piazza was approximately 70 MB. These new MW3 maps are currently only available on the Xbox 360 for Premium Elite Members, and are scheduled to be available for PS3 owners within a month!
