“World premiere” of newest Call of Duty entry scheduled for Monday night’s NBA Western Conference Finals game.
A week ago today, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 had its lid blown off, thanks to a significant information leak. During the week that’s followed, publisher Activision has released teaser trailers for the game (see below), but soon the game will get an official unveiling.
According to a note on Modern Warfare 3’s official Facebook page, gamers eager to get a first look at this fall’s shooter should tune in to Monday night’s NBA Western Conference Finals game, which airs nationally on ESPN.
The message did not say what will be shown of the title during the basketball game, or in what capacity it will be shown in.
Additionally, Activision pairing with the NBA to air a debut Call of Duty trailer is not without precedent. A year ago this month, the reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops was shown during the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals, and a year before that, a trailer for Modern Warfare 2 was shown during the same basketball series.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is due out this fall, likely on November 8. It follows last November’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, which has sold as many as 20 million units, propelling it to become the best-selling game in the United States of all time.
The game is reportedly a collaborative effort from Activision-owned shops Infinity Ward, Raven Software, and Sledgehammer Games, and features battles across the globe in locations like Manhattan and Dubai. A teaser trailer for the game is available below.
