The schedule for Spike’s All Access Live show has revealed that Electronic Arts will unveil a new project from Criterion Games and reveal more information about the sequel to Mirror’s Edge at this year’s E3.
The schedule states that EA will show Criterion’s game and give an update on Mirror’s Edge at its press conference on June 9 from 12-1 P.M. PST. “Nearly a half-dozen new games” will be presented at the conference, according to the schedule. This confirms what Spike TV’s Geoff Keighley said on Twitter a month ago.
Criterion, creator of racing franchise Burnout, co-developed last year’s Need for Speed: Rivals with Ghost Games but has been through turmoil. The core Criterion team was reduced to just 16 people as development on Need for Speed was nearing completion, and founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry left the studio in January.
Since a short teaser trailer was shown at last year’s E3, EA has said very little about the new Mirror’s Edge currently in development at DICE. The trailer states that the game is “coming… when it’s ready,” and an EA executive let slip that it will be open world. Other than that, Mirror’s Edge 2 is a mystery.
