Minecraft’s server was hit by distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks this week, slowing the game to a crawl. The attacks were launched by fans who say they are unhappy with the game’s perceived lack of updates (via CVG)

“Its purpose is to send Notch [game creator Markus Persson] a clear message of how the future of minecraft will turn out unless he gets to work, namely by influencing the amount of sales taking place, due to the attacks,” a person claiming to represent the group wrote on 4chan.

“Start providing your customers with the updates that you promise them.”
