Earlier today Konami announced that February 21, 2012 will be the official North American release date for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. The game is a reworked update of the original title for the Playstation 2 which was originally released in North America on November 17th, 2004. The game takes place during the Cold War of the 1960′s and finds Snake infiltrating the Soviet jungle in an attempt to rescue a weapons designer.

As mentioned earlier; the game has not only been updated to take full advantage of the system’s 3D capabilities, but it will also be compatible with the Circle Pad Pro accessory which is set to be released on February 7th, 2012. According to Konami, targeting enemies will be made simpler with the accessory since the second circle pad will allow you to more easily target enemies at a distance. The 3DS version will also come with a feature that’s exclusive to this version: the camouflage photography system. Users will be able to take pictures of real life items and create a camoflauge suit based on those pictures. The effectiveness of the suits will vary depending on how well the picture blends with Snake’s environment.
